{"id":962,"date":"2014-01-13T13:55:22","date_gmt":"2014-01-13T13:55:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/crs.hi.is\/?page_id=962"},"modified":"2014-01-13T13:55:22","modified_gmt":"2014-01-13T13:55:22","slug":"gps-data","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/crs.hi.is\/?page_id=962","title":{"rendered":"GPS data"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>What is this data?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Detailed GPS geodetic measurements are used to measure and monitor crustal deformation, as an example due to plate spreading, earthquakes, or shallow magma movements in volcanoes.<\/p>\n<p>The data comes from:<\/p>\n<p>a) Continous GPS measurements, which are processed every day \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0b) Campaign measurements, which can be done with different time intervals<\/p>\n<p>The horizontal error in location of such data is generally less than ~1-3 mm, and the vertical error in location is generally less than a centimeter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where is it available?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The locations of GPS stations in Iceland that are used to measure crustal deformation can be seen <a href=\"http:\/\/strokkur.raunvis.hi.is\/gpsweb\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.
