It offers\u00a0multispectral (MS) and\u00a0panchromatic\u00a0(PAN) imagery. The IKONOS launch was called by\u00a0John E. Pike\u00a0\u201cone of the most significant developments in the history of the space age\u201d.\u00a0IKONOS imagery began being sold on January 1, 2000. \u00a0IKONOS is used to obtain both urban and rural mapping of natural resources and of natural disasters, tax mapping, agriculture and forestry analysis, mining, engineering, construction, and change detection.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where is it available?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Global Land Cover Facility (GLCF<sup>[1]<\/sup>)\u00a0provides access to a restricted set of IKONOS imagery acquired through the NASA Science Data Purchase. Please note that these images are the property of GeoEye and Digital Globe.
