{"id":634,"date":"2013-02-05T09:06:30","date_gmt":"2013-02-05T09:06:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/crs.hi.is\/?page_id=634"},"modified":"2019-04-26T15:42:05","modified_gmt":"2019-04-26T15:42:05","slug":"ers-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/crs.hi.is\/?page_id=634","title":{"rendered":"ERS-2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>What is this data?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ERS-2 is the\u00a0European Remote-Sensing Satellite-2 it was operated by the European Space Agency, ESA , which launched the\u00a0satellite in 1995 carrying an array of earth-observation instruments.\u00a0Shortly afterwards ESA decided to link ERS-2 with its identical twin ERS-1 in the first \u2018tandem\u2019 mission with both satellites orbiting only 24 hours apart (check<a title=\"ERS 1\/2 tandem data\" href=\"https:\/\/crs.hi.is\/?page_id=726\"> ERS 1\/2 tandem data<\/a>). This mission lasted for 9 months.<\/p>\n<p>ERS-2 failed in 2000, far exceeding its planned lifetime.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where is it available?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ERS-2 SAR images covering Iceland were collected between 1992-2000 and are available on \u2018Askja\u2019 remote computer (askja.rhi.hi.is) at The University of Iceland.
